So O.K I'm going to start my reviews of local music artist and producers, starting off firstly with a local MC that I met a few years back.
Teknico is an MC originally from Liverpool but has grown up in Leeds. Always having an interest in music he started off wanting to be a DJ, after getting turntables at the age of 9/10 years old. Since then he has started rapping at about 15 years old and has never looked back since!
Originally a member of Leeds crew "Co-Deeze" Tek started taking his music a bit more seriously and started doing numerous shows throughout Leeds. A few years down the line he was asked to be a part of "C.A.G Faction", and not long after that was one of the founding members of "Tha Office", a collective of artists coming together from different crews to unify the scene and enjoy what we're doing with it.
Having always enjoyed being on stage and performing, Tek found himself doing countless shows in the Leeds scene and various other cities, opening shows for the likes of Masta Ace & Edo G, Lord Finesse, Souls of Mischief, Mystro, Lewis Parker and many more as well as battling in England and Scotland.
With his recent completion of his new music video "A Letter To You" which is a catchy little tune that uses clever bars from A-Z.
"Tha Office" Teknico (mc & producer), Alamak (producer), J Bravo (mc & producer), D Bizzy (mc), Dialect (mc), P Solja (mc), Proptik (mc & producer), Prolific (DJ) K-One (mc), Dreadman (mc), Weezy Jefferson (mc). more affiliates.
So I caught up with the man himself to ask him a few questions.
So Nico, how would you describe the overall vibe of your sound?
I would describe my sound as witty punchlines, catchy hooks, conscious lyrics, and just basically having fun doing what I love to do, all served up on some of the most mouth watering boom bap hip hop Leeds has to offer.
What were your influences growing up?
My main influences were people like Wu Tang Clan, Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep and basically New York hip hop in general.
